Pig Among the Waves Poster

This artwork was inspired by a painting called “Beach Hog,” which had a pig on a beach filled with waves. The pig - who was later named Elliot – inspired Jean’s children’s book titled, “Elliot and the Perfect Wave.” This second version of Elliot surrounded by Jean’s signature wave designs is a lot more graphic. Jean’s waves were originally inspired by Hokusai’s woodblock prints of curling waves surrounded by ocean spray. Here the white bubbles of seawater foam create a unique pattern, wonderfully combined with a pink pig that has been intricately dotted. Later on, Jean’s combination of ocean-filled waves and a land bound pig would influence the story of Elliot, who dreamt of learning how to surf.
